This site is my thoughts about engineering and design. I believe the world is changing and we do not need bigger dams, taller buildings, wider freeways, more shopping malls. We are not going to build our way out of the problems we face. Instead we need to rethink how we do engineering to meet the world’s needs. There are other ways. Perhaps looking at how nature solves a similar problem; perhaps listening to the perspectives of architects and other design disciplines more; perhaps asking: is it really needed anyway?
This is still engineering, its what I call the new engineering. In this journal I hope to explore and chronicle how we can make the change.
